The Gate City Jazz Trio is a professional jazz ensemble based in Greensboro, NC, comprised of Matt Reid on piano, Evan Campfield on bass, and Chrishawn Darby on drums. The GCJT is a staple in the North Carolina jazz scene, most recently as hosts and house musicians of weekly jazz jam sessions at Double Oaks Bed & Breakfast and Westerwood Tavern. The GCJT performs regularly in the local and regional area of Central North Carolina in many different venues and settings, offering straight-ahead jazz favorites from the 1920s to current.
Each member of the GCJT holds, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in a music-related field, and all currently serve as music educators in private, public and/or university settings. Each member has extensive knowledge of the jazz idiom and jazz performance, and provides professional musical entertainment for all types of venues.
